General Services

NAVACH works in partnership with Rural Community Action Nottinghamshire (RCAN) to deliver a wide range of services to village hall and community building management committees. This includes:
  • Advice by telephone or e-mail from the Village Halls Advisor at RCAN

  • Visits from the Village Halls Advisor

  • Training events on subjects such as fire safety, environmental issues and marketing
  • Village Hall Information Sheets and publications, covering issues essential to village hall and community buildings management, i.e. the NAVACH Guidelines and Good Practice for Managing Your Community Hall.
  • Copies of example policies and model documents including leases, equal opportunities and health and safety
  • Funding advice, including potential  funding sources and support throughout the application process
  • Rural Voice Magazine which includes a section on community buildings
  • Publication of a Nottinghamshire Community Buildings Directory and database

  • Representation at county, regional and national level to funders and legislators

A charge may be made for non-members of NAVACH for some of these services.

Membership Only Services

Membership of NAVACH is £25.00 per annum and is available to anyone involved in the management of a community building.

It entitles members to:

  • The standard services provided by NAVACH and RCAN
  • Unlimited free advice by telephone or e-mail from the Village Hall Advisor and NAVACH Committee
  • Access to a members bulletin board where village halls can share information
  • Up to 7 hours of free visits from the Village Halls Advisor with a reduced rate of £50 for each visit thereafter (non-members may book visits from the Village Halls Advisor at a charge of £100.00 per visit with no free visits)
  • Free or subsidised training (nonmembers will be liable for the full cost of training)
  • Village Hall Information Sheets and publications (at a reduced rate than that charged to non-members)
  • NAVACH newsletter at least 4 times a year providing updates on legislation, funding and current issues for village halls
  • Free 2 hour advice session from NAVACH Professional Services including building surveying, heating and ventilation, architectural, legal, and asbestos advice
  • Opportunity to nominate committee members to stand on NAVACH
  • Access to a network of contacts who are involved in the running of community halls
  • Latest information on best practice
  • Access to funding if NAVACH secures block delegated funding

By becoming a member you could avoid:

  • Breaking the law through lack of knowledge about changes in legislation
  • Failing to secure funding by submitting a poor quality funding bid
  • Re-inventing the wheel by struggling through processes on your own

Any member of a hall management committee who is a paid member of NAVACH can join the Executive Committee. Application forms are downloadable from the Members' Area.
